IT & telecom cost reduction in Brazil
Updated on
Reducing IT and telecom costs means reviewing everything the company pays for links, telephony, cloud, licenses and support contracts. What is not used gets cancelled, and what costs more than it should gets renegotiated. I do it without trading quality for price and without stopping operations: the work starts with an assessment of invoices and contracts and ends with the changes implemented and checked.
The problem
IT and telecom spend grows little by little. A branch moves and the old link is still billed. A contract renews on its own for another term. Mobile lines of former employees stay active. Nobody has time to check every invoice, and the bill becomes a number that only goes up. For foreign companies, contracts in Portuguese and unfamiliar carriers make it even harder.
Signs you are paying more than you should
- Telecom invoices paid without a line-by-line check.
- Contracts with automatic renewal and no one knows when they expire.
- Links or circuits at addresses no longer in use.
- Unused mobile lines, extensions or numbers.
- Software licenses with more seats than users.
- Cloud services running that nobody can explain.
- Maintenance contracts for equipment already out of service.
- Years without quoting the same services with other vendors.
How I work
1. Assessment
I gather invoices, contracts and the inventory of links, lines, licenses and cloud services, and compare them with what the operation actually uses.
You get: a consolidated inventory and a prioritized map of waste.
2. Action plan
I separate what can be cancelled, what should be renegotiated and what should be replaced, with the risks of each change.
You get: the plan with the sequence of actions, contract deadlines and operational impact.
3. Renegotiation and implementation
I lead the conversation with carriers and vendors, compare proposals and coordinate cancellations, migrations and activations without leaving any site offline.
You get: proposals compared side by side and the changes carried out.
4. Verification
I check the following invoices to make sure what was agreed actually reached the bill.
You get: the new monthly cost documented and a routine for your team to keep control.
Why work with me
I have been on both sides of this negotiation. I worked in operations, at companies such as Fiat, Oi, Magnesita and Biomedical, and on the vendor side, at IBM and Century. At Century, I served 474 B2B clients in connectivity, cloud and security. I know how buyers and sellers think about these contracts, and where a cut puts operations at risk.
Frequently asked questions
How much can we save on telecom?
It depends on what the assessment finds. I do not promise a percentage before seeing your invoices and contracts. The assessment shows what can be cut or renegotiated and what that is worth in your case.
Do we need to switch carriers to pay less?
Not necessarily. Renegotiating with the current carrier, cancelling unused services and reviewing plans often solve it. Switching only enters the plan when it pays off and the migration risk is under control.
How do we avoid the automatic renewal trap?
With a contract inventory that records each expiry date, the required notice period and an owner. That is part of what I deliver in the assessment.
